What's Fresh at the West End- July 22

There is no better way to start the weekend then filling your fridge with fresh local food from the West End Market!  This weekend we will have organic cherries from Golden West Farms, kombucha from The Royals Kombucha Brew House, and as always delicious cookies and squares from Cookies by John.

Make sure to also read the latest In Season blog post that features stone fruit!  Peaches, cherries, plums, and apricots are all starting to make an appearance at the markets this month.  There’s even a delicious recipe for a peach and mascarpone tart!


Bike to Shop Days

This weekend is Bike to Shop Days and we will be congratulating all cyclists at the West End market!  Make sure to stop by the info tent with your bike helmet and you can enter your name into a draw to win a gift basket of market goodies.  Have a look at all the cycling routes and protected bike lanes from the City of Vancouver to plan you’re route to the market.  We’re just a few blocks up from your bike trip along the seawall!

Peaches, apricots and cherries are popping up at the market Hurray! This week Rai Produce has a varieties of cherries, peaches and apricots. Yum!

Bring your old, broken or unwanted small appliances for a day of family fun! Located in the Trout Lake Park neighbouring the market, Recyclefest is happening Saturday July 22! They will have Bouncy Castles, Photo Booths, Popcorn, Arts and Crafts, Caricaturists and much more….

In Season Now: Stone Fruit!

Peaches, apricots and cherries are popping up at the market and we couldn’t be more excited for these juicy fruits. This week Rai Produce will have 2 varieties of cherries, peaches and apricots. Stay tuned until we get organic cherries from Summerland from Golden West Nurseries on July 26th.

Telus, a sponsor of the markets, will be bringing promo and service activations of PureFibre internet, as well as be sure to stop by for a Market Money draw for $50!

KidSafe Donation Station

The KidSafe Project Society is a Vancouver-based charity whose mission is to provide nurturing safe havens fro vulnerable inner-city children when schools are traditionally closed. This week, drop by the KidsSafe Donation Station and donate, so the project can provide nutritious meals to children using market produce.


Kits Cafe Special 

Three Sisters Winery Vineyard

 At the south end of the market around the corner is the Kits Cafe, full of fun products and with its own busker! There is often coffee, alcoholic drinks, and other treats. Serving up sweets are Johnny’s Pops & Take A Fancy Chocolate.  Left Field Cider and Three Sisters Winery will be serving up cold beverages for you to enjoy (at home) and sample. Enjoy handmade delights from Old Country Pierogi and The Raw Guy. The farmers market can’t leave out the farmers though! Home Farm Gardens is a lavender farm and nursery and Hill Top Farms will have an abundance of cherries!
