West End October 15 - Cancelled

The Trout Lake and West End Markets are cancelled this Saturday, October 15th due to the approaching storm and forecasted high winds which could pose a threat to the safety of shoppers, vendors and market staff.

Our Kitsilano Market is on this Sunday, October 16th! Visit the Kits Market on Sunday from 10AM to 2PM at 10th and Larch (Kits Community Centre Parking lot) for all of your weekend market shopping needs!  Please stay tuned on social media for any updates – @vanmarkets

This Saturday is the Annual West End Harvest Festival – just in time for Thanksgiving!

Come on down and celebrate the harvest with a fun-filled day of activities for adults and children, great seasonal recipes, fun facts, cooking tips, apple and squash variety displays and our Fall Fruit Pie Competition! Pies are judged on taste, appearance, crust and originality. CLICK HERE to register for the Pie Competition (until 12PM on Friday)…there are some awesome prizes to be won! The West End Donation Station for the Dr. Peter Centre Food and Nutrition Program will be on site this Saturday! The program provides a complete and nutrient-dense menu that includes balanced portions of meat or alternatives, vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and dairy products. Any donation you can make is greatly appreciated—please consider filling a brown bag with fruit, vegetables, canned fish, nuts and eggs! Cash and market money are also accepted.

ChopSwap is a community campaign that helps turn local restaurants and their customers into zero-waste heroes, and they will have a station at the market this Saturday! Pay them a visit to swap your disposable chopsticks for a pair of reusable ones! All swapped + reclaimed chopsticks will be donated to local school arts programs, crafters and other creative initiatives (or sent to compost).

This is an annual event, geographically focused on Vancouver’s West End Neighbourhood, which aims to: create opportunities to celebrate the diversity of food and cultures in the community, bring public attention to various issues and concerns in our food system, use food as a mechanism to foster social inclusion and community building, facilitate skill development in urban farming and food preparation, and highlight existing community food assets.
