Join us September 24th at the Main St. Station Farmers Market in Thornton Park from 3-7pm!

The Main St. Station Farmers Market will have an awesome variety of vendors this week. On Wednesday you will find ocean wise fish, certified organic grass fed beef and lamb, artisanal cheese, authentic French Canadian pies, sprouts, preserves, vegan terrine style pate, bread and pastry, irresistible handmade chocolate, cosmetics, fresh cut flowers, crafts, food carts, buskers and more!

Your fall favorites will be at Main St. in even greater abundance. Look for, leeks, peppers, eggplant, cabbage, cauliflower, beets, potatoes, garlic, fresh herbs, greens, wild mushrooms, shallots, onions, and more varieties of squash, apples and pears, from BC’s finest growers!

Don’t miss the Pro-Am competition at Main St. Station!

Here’s your chance to compete head–to–head alongside a couple of the most reputable chefs in town. Chef Alvin Pilay of the Blackbird Public House and Oyster Bar and Chef Nathan Lowey of Campagnolo are inviting aspiring chefs to partner with them in a friendly Pro-Am competition at the Main St. Station Farmers Market on September 24th.

To enter for a chance to join either Team Pillay or Team Lowey, submit an image featuring a dish you’ve created using local ingredients along with why you want to compete on social media using the hashtag #VFMProAm . The deadline to enter is Monday, September 22nd, and Alvin and Nathan will make final selections.

The winner will receive $50 gift certificates to both Blackbird and Campagnolo restaurants.

Japanese Food As Medicine Tour

Naturopathic Physician Dr. Carmen Tanaka will be back at Main Street this week with two activities. At 4:30 pm, meet at the Info Booth for a market tour, and learn to incorporate local veggies into Japanese style dishes. Also make sure to stop by her demo table and be inspired by the many ways to prepare kabocha – Japanese squash!

RIPE 2014 is getting closer!

RIPE 2014 is Vancouver Farmers Markets annual dinner celebration, showcasing Vancouver’s top culinary talent, paired with the best of VFM producers. Appetizers and a sit down feast of market-fare will take place at the elegant Roundhouse Exhibition Hall on Sunday, October 19th from 4-8pm. RIPE 2014 will feature signature cocktails, micro-brews, BC wines, live entertainment and a silent auction.
