Tomato Festival Is Here!

Summer came early this year and brought us a wonderful bounty of juicy tomatoes. To celebrate the delightful fruits, we’ll have recipes, a tomato display, tomato samples and kids activities. Come celebrate one of our favourite fruits – it’s in our logo after all! Spread the word by sharing our Facebook event page  and #tomatofest on Twitter and Instagram. If you can’t make it this Sunday at Kits, Trout Lake will also be celebrating from 9am-2pm. Check out their Facebook event page HERE.

Who’s selling Tomatoes?

If you’ve been around the market recently, you’ll see tomatoes at almost every stand. Here’s a list of tomato vendors you should expect at Kits this Sunday:

Klippers Organic Acres, Frostbauer Family Natural Food Farm, Harvey’s Orchards, Organic Farm Connection, Paul’s Produce, Shalefield Organic Gardens, Langley Organic Growers, Ice Cap Organics, Cropthorne Farm, Forrest Nelson Certified Organic Produce, Garden Back to Eden Chilliwack Heirloom Organic Farm, Applebarn Pumpkin Farm, Stein Mountain Farm and Crisp Organics

Food Scraps Drop Spots is Wrapping Up August 30th

With the recent Metro Vancouver Organics Ban, the Drop Spots are seeing fewer drops – which is a good thing! More buildings have implemented food scraps collections, allowing residents to dispose of their food waste at home. If your building doesn’t have organics collections just yet, contact our program partner Recycling Alternative (604-874-7283) or the City of Vancouver (3-1-1) for recycling collection options.  The last day for the Drop Spot at Kits is on Sunday, August 30th. In the meantime, our West End Market will be accepting drop offs until further notice.

See you at the market!
