West End Food Festival – Sept. 18-22
As part of the West End Food Festival we are hosting Farmers Market Tours this week at the market! Tours will be lead by local nutritionist Lisa Halliwell and West End MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert. Learn about the health benefits and environmental impact of buying locally produced food. Scavenger hunt and prizes included in every tour!
VFM’s First-Ever ProAm Competition
Here’s your chance to compete head-to-head alongside a couple of the most reputable chefs in town. Chef Alvin Pillay of the Blackbird Public House and Oyster Bar and Chef Nathan Lowey of Campagnolo are inviting aspiring chefs to partner with them in a friendly pro-am competition at the Main Street Station Farmers Market on September 24.
To enter for a chance to join either Team Pillay or Team Lowey, tell us what your signature dish is and which team you’d join with the hashtag #VFMProAm. Deadline to enter is Monday, September 22 and final selections will be made by Alvin and Nathan.
The winner will receive $50 gift certificates to both the Blackbird and Campagnolo restaurants.

RIPE is VFM’s annual dinner fundraiser, a true celebration of the harvest that showcases the best of our producers paired with Vancouver’s top farm-to-table restaurants. We are thrilled to announce the 2014 roster to date, which includes Edible Canada, Vij’s Rangoli, Graze, and Forage, along with signature cocktails by VFM vendors Long Table Distillery and Odd Society Spirits, a special RIPE cask from R & B Brewery, and Okanagan wines from BC Wine Studio.
