Fresh to Families Program
About Fresh to Families Program
The Fresh to Families Program is Vancouver Farmers Markets’ own expansion project of the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program, a province-wide healthy eating initiative led by the BC Association of Farmers Markets (BCAFM) and the BC Ministry of Health. While the program provides access to fresh, locally grown food that may otherwise be inaccessible, while also giving participants the dignity to choose the foods that work best for them, every dollar redeemed goes straight to BC farmers and producer vendors. At VFM, we believe that fresh, locally-grown food should be available to everyone regardless of income. Our Fresh to Families Program is one of the ways we work to make that goal a reality.

2025 Giving Tuesday Campaign
Our Goal
We’re aiming to raise $13,500 to fund 2026 season coupons for 30 local families.
How can you help?
This year, we’re taking a peer-to-peer fundraising approach to Giving Tuesday — and we’re inviting you to join us, as who you wish to be – a supporter spreading the message, a donor donating dollars , or a fundraiser helping us raise funds.
You can:
- Start your own fundraising page on our Zeffy campaign and rally your friends, family, or coworkers
- Donate directly to support families and farmers
- Spread the word on social media to help us reach our $13,500 goal
Every bit counts — whether you raise $30 or $300, you’re helping families access fresh local food and supporting the farmers who grow it.
Here’s what your collective support can do:
- $30 → Brings one family to the market once
- $120 → Supports one family for a month
- $450 → Supports one family for a full market season
- $900 → Supports two families for a season
All donations over $20 receive a charitable tax receipt through Vancity Foundation.
How we’ll celebrate your support
We’re grateful for every single contribution, and we love to share the impact of your generosity:
- Donate or Fundraise for 5 families ($2,250): Recognition on our website, social media, and in our annual report
- Donate or Fundraise for 10 families ($4,500): Recognition + a custom content feature spotlighting your brand’s community impact
This Giving Tuesday, let’s show what community-powered food security looks like.

This Program can not exist without the support of our generous Donors
There are so many of you who care deeply about feeding those in need and supporting local farms. Some of you we know by name and face, while many others contribute anonymously, supporting us whenever you can. We have no adequate words to express our gratitude—only a deep and profound feeling of thanks. THANK YOU for everything you do.
And last but not the least, we are grateful to create vibrant and welcoming markets that build community, feed people, and support small farms and producers, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ / sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
