Support the Markets

Vancouver Farmers Markets is operating six weekly markets as essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Donate now to help us keep the farmers markets safe and open.

Vancouver Farmers Markets is a small, community-based non-profit that has been serving the community with local food since 1995. Now it its 25th season, VFM is playing a critical role in supporting small farms and essential food access during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We need your help. VFM’s operations have been significantly impacted by the unprecedented changes brought on by the pandemic. Necessary modifications to our markets during COVID-19 have meant a huge hit to our revenue at a time when we need increased staff and equipment resources to run the markets safely.

More than 250 small farms and food businesses rely on Vancouver Farmers Markets for their livelihoods, and thousands of individuals depend on them for access to fresh, healthy food. Now, more than ever, Vancouver Farmers Markets are essential. Pledge your support today – your generous donation will help us:

+ Keep our markets safe and open with best safety practices, including monitored physical distancing, hand washing stations, increased space between vendor stalls, and informational signage.

+ Support our producers by providing weekly opportunities to sell to the public during the pandemic, increased access to sales through VFM Online Orders, and promotional and business support for those unable to attend markets at this time.

+ Work with municipal and provincial officials to keep farmers markets open as an essential service, and to meet all requirements to ensure they are a safe place to shop during the pandemic.

+ Provide access to fresh food for low income families through the Fresh to Families Project and Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program.

Six ways you can support the markets this summer:

Become a Member: Support Vancouver Farmers Markets during the COVID-19 pandemic by becoming a Market Member. Funds raised help us keep our markets safe and open, provide a variety of supports for our farms and producers, and help us continue to serve the community through essential food access. A $20 membership helps a lot – but if you have the means, a $50, $100, or $250 membership will go further to get us through this difficult and uncertain time. Members also get perks on market merchandise and vendor goods. Sign up or find out more on our Membership page: eatlocal.org/membership

Make a donation: If membership isn’t a fit, consider making a donation to Vancouver Farmers Markets in any amount. You can donate on this page: eatlocal.org/donate
