ElectroRecycle is back this summer!
Get your grocery shopping & small appliance and power tool recycling done in one convenient stop!
Vancouver Farmers Markets has been partnering with ElectroRecycle since 2015 by setting up regular recycling days at markets. Over the last 7 years, ElectroRecycle has collected over 19,000 lbs of small appliance and power tools from market shoppers! From electric kettles to vacuum cleaners, hair driers to coffee makers, ElectroRecycle collects over 400 products that can be conveniently dropped off at the West End and Kitsilano farmers markets.
For a full list of accepted items, click here.
We asked ElectroRecycle for some recycling tips, here’s what they shared:
- If your appliance has batteries that are difficult to remove they can be left inside the device. To recycle other batteries, please visit Call2Recycle to find a battery recycling location near you
- TVS or computer electronics are not accepted through the ElectroRecycle program – these items are managed by a different Provincial recycling program
- ElectroRecycle partners with more than 200 depots across BC to collect small appliances and power tools. So if you can’t make it to the West End or Kitsilano on the dates listed below, click here to find a location near you
- If your small appliance or power tool is still in usable condition, think about donating your item so it can be reused before its recycled. Thrift stores like the Salvation Army or local sharing initiative like the Thingery, are great options to give your item a second use.
Recycle & Win!
