Thank You for Showing Up — All Year Long
As the year winds down, we’ve been taking a moment to look back — and what a year it’s been.
Together, we celebrated 30 years of Vancouver Farmers Markets with a big, joyful AGM, shared our story through a video and four blog posts, and brought that history to life with a special anniversary tote bag that mapped the journey of our markets across the city. Along the way, we had a lot of fun too — releasing quirky, much-loved designs as magnets, stickers, bookmarks, and a fundraiser tote bag that many of you now carry proudly to market.
This year also reminded us that farmers markets are not just about food — they are about resilience. We weathered yet another market displacement at False Creek. We felt the love as global uncertainty and looming trade tariffs shifted attention inward, toward local food and local businesses. And we were grateful to see Vancouver Farmers Markets recognized, again and again, as a steady, essential piece of the city’s local food infrastructure — especially during unpredictable economic times.
Through it all, we continued to show up — week after week, rain or shine!
We supported 165 families through the Fresh to Families program with nutrition coupons for fresh, local food. We launched a meaningful collaboration with Indigenous Tourism BC, welcoming four Indigenous vendors to the Downtown Farmers Market. And not forgetting the amazing membership drives this year!
Every single market day, we did what we do best: creating vibrant, welcoming spaces that build community, feed people, and support small farms and producers.
None of this happens on its own.
So thank you — truly — to our farmers and food producers, all our vendors, staff, board members, volunteers, buskers, sponsors, partners, and the thousands of shoppers who choose to spend their dollars locally. You are the reason these markets exist. You are the reason they endure.
As we step into a new year, we do so with deep gratitude, renewed determination, and a whole lot of love for this community we get to serve.
See you at the markets!
