Trout Lake – August 9
We know when the Stoney Paradise tomato line builds beside the Information Booth that summer is here for good. Plums and apricots, nectarines and basil, spuds of untold shapes and colours and fresh ears of corn are all ripe for the taking! (Speaking of RIPE – have you heard about our delectable fundraiser dinner? You can sign up for Early Bird tickets here)
Don’t miss these vendors:
- Wenger Sheep Farm: Bridgette and Henry only come down from Williams Lake every other week with their lamb, mutton and pasta and this is their first of 5 visits. Make sure to swing by early in the day for the best selection – it goes quickly!
- Picked For You: Talk to Matt about his heirloom varieties of hard and soft-neck garlic, beans, snap peas and squash. You might even take some to plant in your own garden…
- Tien Neo Eamas, jewels and spells: A real alchemist at the farmers market, Tien brings magick from the Sunshine Coast to Trout Lake for the first time by way of his sterling silver jewellry, Spell-in-a-box and more.
Share with Your Neighbour: We’re collecting $5 tokens at the Information Booth to help send low-income families and seniors to the farmers markets. This program is in partnership with the BCAFM Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program and will benefit participants at Renfrew-Collingwood, Mount Pleasant, Downtown Eastside, and Gordon Neighbourhood Houses as well as the Hastings Community Centre. Add an extra token on your next market money purchase and help increase food security in our city!
Save the Date! Tomato Festival – August 23: In addition to our infamous heirloom tomato display and tasting, we’ll have recipes, kid’s activities and tomato basil gelato from Bella Gelateria! Come celebrate the sweet side of tomatoes with us!
See you at the market!
