Food Truck February is here!

#FoodTruckFeb kicks off this weekend at Nat Bailey!

Our food trucks have been asked to create a Market Menu item using ingredients sourced as locally as they can get – right from their fellow vendors! Here’s who you can look forward to seeing on February 7th:

Aussie Pie Guy

Check out their pork tourtiere pie with a luscious blueberry/molasses port sauce. The Pie Guy is using pork and blueberries sourced from Gelderman Farms – they supply our many of our markets with vegetarian-fed, humanely raised, delicious pork!

Blue Smoke BBQ

Blue Smoke introduces the “Juicy Lucy” for the month of February. The Lucy features a unique mince blend of premium meats including brisket, beef short rib, and pork belly. As Wayne would say, can you spell Y-U-M-M-Y!?!

Chilitank

Winter Market stalwart Chilitank features his famous beefy chili using Empire Valley beef, chilies from Earth Apple Farm and Forstbauer Family Natural Food Farm, seasonal squash from Klippers Organic Acres, and green onions from Lowland Herb Farm.

Creperie La Boheme

Special at La Creperie this month will be the TASTY BEET: they’ve smothered their signature crispy buckwheat crepe in béchamel, kale pesto, beets, goat cheese, smoked beef, greens, sunflower sprouts and vinaigrette. The kale pesto is made with beautiful kale grown in the Cariboo, the beets are from the Fraser Valley, the smoked beef comes from the International Sausage House in Burnaby where they smoke all their own meat, beets are from Rondriso Farms and the sprouts are from the Vancouver Food Pedalers Co-op. Locally delicious!

The Schnitzel Shack

The Schnitzel Shack will the featuring their famous schnitzel sandwich in a new combo this month. Choose from tender, juicy pork/chicken/vegan schnitzel and a fresh greens medley in a baked tortilla or pita wrap, all topped off with a flavorful dressing and a side of their house-baked veggie chips. The fresh greens are sourced right from the the market. The Schnitzel Shack sources cabbage, beets, parsnips, and apples for their chips from Cropthorne Farm, Klippers Organic, and Harvey’s Orchards.

Each food truck’s Market Menu item will be given a “Most Local” rating – can they make it to 50% local? 75%?? 100%???
