At the West End Farmers Market – September 12

It’s Farmers Appreciation Week!

Starting this Saturday, September 12th, is the sixth annual Farmers Appreciation Week where we celebrate BC farmers, agriculture and local food. Let’s all show our appreciation to BC farmers this week! We’ll have a treat station setup at the info tent where our farmers can enjoy a refreshment all day long. Show your support by donating to the treat station, buying your favourite farmer a treat directly, or even telling them how much you appreciate what they do! These farmers make it possible for us to eat the best local, nutritious food there is! I can’t imagine a world without them! Could you?

If you’re the creative type – show your appreciation by writing some poetry. Get your creative juices flowing and show your love for farmers with BC Farmers’ Markets’ Ode To A Farmer poetry contest! Win $150 to spend at your favourite BCAFM farmers’ market. Deadline is this Sunday, September 13. Enter here: #BCFarmersWeek

Edible Challenge!

The Salt Spring Coffee Edible scavenger hunt continues and ties in so well with Farmers Appreciation Week. Check off that “hug or shake hands with a farmer” checkbox this week – a great way to show your appreciation! Pick up a scavenger hunt postcard at the market information tent, or download it here. Snap some photos along the way and tag them #fairtofarmer, each photo tagged is an entry for great prizes. You’ll be entered for some great prizes like foodie events (including our very own RIPE celebration in Yaletown), CSA shares and great coffee to name a few! All details here.

Ripe 2015

Our annual RIPE celebration takes place on October 18, in Yaletown, at the Roundhouse Exhibition Hall. Check our RIPE event page for all the details, including participating chefs and farms! This is one farm-to-table experience you wont forget!

See you at the market!
