Come Celebrate Indigenous History Month at the Downtown Market!

This year VFM is kicking off Indigenous History Month & the Downtown Market Season in grateful collaboration with Friends of Indigenous Tourism BC to welcome a cohort of four incredible new (to VFM) Indigenous vendors to the Downtown Market.

In collaboration with Friends of Indigenous Tourism BC and with the generous support of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, we are thrilled to be inviting 4 amazing Indigenous vendors to the Downtown Market every Wednesday in June. And we are kicking it all off on opening day – June 4th – with a special Opening Ceremony. It is in gratitude for the gathering space of šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl\’e7énḵ Square, on which we are so privileged to host the Downtown Farmers Market, in celebration of all of the many people who have made the Downtown Market possible over the years, and in recognition of Indigenous History Month and the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh on which all of our markets take place.

You won’t want to miss it! There will be drumming, there will be celebration, words will be shared, and what’s more – the Downtown Market will be back in action for it’s 2025 season!

Opening Ceremony:

  • When: Wednesday, June 4th at 2:00 PM
  • Where: Downtown Farmers Market, šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl\’e7énḵ Square (North plaza of the Van Art Gallery)
  • Who: You!
