Thanks for shopping on Community Giving Day!

Thanks to everyone who came out to shop at Metro Vancouver Whole Foods Markets last Thursday, April 18th! With your help, we raised $33,185.17 – enough to send 82 families in need to the farmers markets this summer!

If you’ve been saving up for that fancy French walnut oil or maybe a box of Maldon sea salt at your local Whole Foods Market, consider purchasing it at their upcoming Community Giving Day on Thursday, April 18th.

When you shop at any Metro Vancouver Whole Foods Market that day, they will generously donate 5% of net sales to VFM’s Fresh to Families Project! This food access initiative provides fresh food coupons to families in need in Vancouver and Burnaby, which will be used this summer at Vancouver Farmers Market to purchase fresh produce, meat and seafood, nuts, dairy, and eggs direct from our farmers.

As a major supporter of Fresh to Families since 2015, Whole Foods Market has donated more than $100,000 to the project! The program currently serves 150 low-income Vancouver and Burnaby families and supports the livelihoods of over 80 small-scale producers, but there are families on the waitlist for coupons this season. We need your help to raise additional funds, so fill up your basket when you shop that day to bring more families to the farmers markets in 2019. More info on Fresh to Families Fund can be found at this page.

Community Giving Day takes place Thursday, April 18th at all six Metro Vancouver Whole Foods Markets, including Cambie, Kitsilano, Robson, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Burnaby. For more details on store locations, visit wholefoodsmarket.com.
