At Stratford Hall, our dedication to environmental stewardship extends far beyond our school walls and deep into the local community. That is why we are incredibly proud to be a sponsor of the Vancouver Farmers Markets this year.
Supporting a local food system that prioritizes access, community and local economic strengthening is a perfect reflection of our own core values. This partnership allows us to champion local farmers and sustainable food security while showing our students what grassroots environmental action looks like in our own backyard.
Sponsoring the markets is just one of the ways sustainability is woven into how we learn, lead, and take action every single day. From Kindergarten through Grade 12, our students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to tackle real-world challenges and make a meaningful impact as thoughtful global citizens. For the third consecutive year, Stratford Hall is working to maintain its Platinum EcoSchools certification, recognizing our ongoing commitment to environmental leadership.

Sustainability
Sustainability is interwoven into every aspect of the school. Through inquiry, environmental stewardship, and community engagement, students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to address real-world challenges and make a meaningful impact.
Student Action
Throughout the year, students organize initiatives including community and beach cleanups, clothing swaps, donation drives, waste-free lunch campaigns, and the annual EcoFair. They also participate in conferences, citizen science projects, and local environmental stewardship opportunities that connect classroom learning with meaningful action.
Teaching and Learning
Across every grade, students are encouraged to think critically about environmental challenges, consider multiple perspectives, and take informed action in their school, their communities, and beyond.
Sustainable Campus
Student ideas continue to shape improvements across our three buildings. Initiatives have included battery and pen recycling, soft plastics collection, rooftop composting systems, and gardens that support hands-on learning. Future projects, including the installation of solar panels, reflect the impact of student advocacy and leadership.
Community Engagement
Sustainability is a shared responsibility across the Stratford Hall community. Students, faculty, staff, families, and the Stratford Hall Parent Association work together to support initiatives that reduce our environmental impact and strengthen community connections.
From Sustainable Travel Weeks and neighbourhood cleanups to partnerships with the City of Vancouver, environmental organizations, and local experts, students engage with sustainability beyond the classroom and discover how collaboration can create lasting change.
