Experience Vancouver with Football and Berries
June marks the arrival of one of the sweetest moments of the year at Vancouver Farmers Markets, because it’s the Berry Season.
As the days grow longer and warmer, market tables begin to fill with the first local strawberries, followed by raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and more. For a few short weeks, shoppers have the chance to experience these fruits at their absolute peak—freshly harvested, full of flavour, and grown close to home by BC farmers.
Whether you’re a longtime market regular or visiting Vancouver this summer, berry season is one of the best ways to experience what makes our region’s food culture special.
Why Seasonal Berries Taste Better
Unlike berries that travel long distances before reaching grocery store shelves, local berries sold at farmers markets are often harvested within a day or two of market day. That means farmers can prioritize flavour and freshness rather than durability for shipping.
The result? Juicier strawberries, sweeter raspberries, and blueberries bursting with flavour.
Many berry varieties are available for only a few weeks each season, making June and July the perfect time to enjoy them while they last.
Make a Day of It
This summer, we are happy to welcome visitors from around the world, arriving in Vancouver as the city hosts FIFA World Cup 26™ matches. And farmers markets Berries are the perfect way to experience what’s truly local between games and sightseeing!
