On the second Saturday of the month, Vancouver Farmers Markets takes over the airwaves of Co-op Radio (100.5FM) to broadcast market related news, updates, upcoming events and vendor profiles.  Tune in between 9am and 10am to hear music from market entertainers, news about the next festival or event to hit the market and bits and pieces from the market community and beyond.

Last month the show was all about Healthy Habits so we featured market superfoods like kale, garlic and salmon and we talked to Manfred of Ostro Organics about using fresh pressed oils to add important nutrients to your cooking.  We featured an interview with Elexis Boyle, whole foods chef and baker who is offering whole foods cooking classes coming up in the spring and we gave shout outs to the vendors at the Hastings Park and Nat Bailey Winter Markets who grow and make some of the best and healthiest treats out there!

If you’re interested in knowing more about what goes into making a farmers market, tune in each month for a little extra time with your favourite makers, bakers and growers – you’ll be a market insider before you know it!

Our next show is March 12th and we’re talking spring fever! Time to get outside and get growing.  What’s in season in the spring and what new vendors you can expect to see showing up at the markets soon.
