Introducing the Seeds for Growth Program

This February we are re-launching our existing business incubation program ‘Boot Camp’ to be more direct with our intentions towards creating a welcoming, accessible platform for new entrepreneurs.

Throughout the 4 weeks of February Vancouver Farmers Markets (VFM) will host up to twelve new business owners at the Hastings Park and Riley Park Winter markets.

So what’s changed?

The newly named Seeds for Growth program will offer one-to-one support and guidance for business owners who have operated for 0 – 1 years, providing low-barrier marketplace entry points for those looking to take their businesses to the next level.

Seeds for Growth will prioritize those who face barriers to participation, barriers can include but are not limited to: people identifying as IBPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, or another marginalized community.

We have done away with the old voting system and introduced new benefits to remove some of the barriers that may prevent people from attending the Vancouver Farmers markets. During the 4 week program participating vendors will receive:

  • Free market equipment rentals, if needed
  • Guidance on every step of the process from experienced farmers market staff
  • Vendor promotion on the VFM social channels & newsletter
  • No long-term commitment required – participants can trial the markets for a month & will be invited to continue if so desired

The program will cost a total of $362.70 (including GST), which covers the 4 winter market dates. We have waived all other associated fees to make the program as accessible as possible.
