Kerrisdale – August 23

Thanks for making last week’s Corn Festival our best one ever!

Last week saw record crowds attend Corn Fest, learning how to can their own corn relish, feasting on our coin boil, and enjoying some double-dutch jump rope action. We look forward to Corn Fest 2015!

Our next upcoming event is Senior’s Day on September 6th – find all the details here! Read on for what’s fresh and happening this week…

Market Manager Ron’s Pick-of-the-Week

This week I tried Greendale Meats gluten-free pepperoni. Made from their grass-fed beef and naturally smoked, this is how pepperoni is supposed to taste. Wonderful woody flavour and very lean. It’s another high quality product from this Chilliwack-based beef ranch.

Many will be happy to hear that Blue Comet Seafood is back this week. This family-run business offers a Community Supported Fishery (CSF) and are also Ocean Wise certified.

Purebread are back this week as well. This popular Whistler-based baker will be situated right next to Mogiana Brazilian coffee – now that’s a great combination. For another kind of sweet treat, try some chocolates in amazing flavours like yuzu, basil or milk tea from Coconama or some classic fudge or caramels from Vintage Sweets Co. with your coffee.

The weather forecast says it’s going to be hot on Saturday so it will be a great time to try Kics Lemonade. The hard-working VFM crew are major fans of this lemonade in all its glorious flavours.

We’ll have lots of produce and fruit vendors on site with two organic produce vendors plus the best of summer fruit and vegetables. The corn this year is excellent and there are several varieties to choose from.

Don’t forget to try your luck on the ‘Spinnerama’. It’s that big white carnival wheel located at the entrance to the market. But come early because the four prizes that are won weekly are usually gone early.

It should be a fun market and we hope to see you here!
