Main St. Station turns 10!
It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago this June, we moved our Wednesday market at Riley Park to 1100 Station Street at the busy commuter intersection of Main & Terminal. Now a well established favourite of VFM shoppers (and a great place to top up on local food during the week), Main St. Station Farmers Market hosts 30+ farms and producers each Wednesday from 2-6pm.
Many of the original Main St. Station vendors still sell with us today, including Christina’s Garden, Cropthorne Farm, Forstbauer Natural Food Farm, Golden West Farms, Jane’s Honey Bees, Maan Farms, Nature’s Village, Shalefield Organic Gardens, Maples Sugar Shack, and A Bread Affair.
We’re also introducing a host of amazing new vendors at Main St. this year! New farms include micro-greens producer Miss-E-Greens, mixed veg growers Newera, and grass-fed beef producers Windy Creek Farm.
Also look out for Italian-inspired sourdough creations from VOLPE Artisan Bakery, almond and coconut-based vegan cheeses from Black Sheep, nourishing and medicinal teas from Trinity’s Tea Creations, small batch, artisanal dips from Holy Homous, vegan, gluten-free snacks from Growing Fresh, holistic kombucha blends from Sajiva Kombucha, and gorgeous hand painted chocolates by Drunken Chocolatier. Every 2nd week you’ll find Afro-vegan eats from Kula Kitchen.
Join us in celebrating 10 years of this great midweek spot on opening day, this Wednesday June 6th. We’ll have birthday cake from Livia Sweets and a Musqueam Welcome and History with Vancouver’s poet laureate, Christie Charles of the Musqueam First Nation. Festivities kick off at 1:45pm.
