Mount Pleasant Market-Oct 11th
Final Mt Pleasant Market of the season, so grab that VFM tote bag and come on over to Dude Chillin Park! Oodles of fall produce to be had, and it’s the perfect chance to stock up on all of your Thanksgiving dinner needs. Plus don’t forget to thank your farmer for another great season!
REFUSE, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Did you know that Vancouver’s Farmers Markets is working towards becoming BEYOND Zero Waste – that means we don’t just want to divert our waste, we want to eliminate it! Here is how you can help:
1) Bring your own reusable bags – start by refusing to use any disposable bags at the till and bring your own reusable bags for your produce. Forgot your bag at home? Don’t worry, we have you covered at the Info Booth! We sell both large canvas bags and Got It bags for produce.
2) Eating at a food cart? The best thing is to bring a container from home or ask your vendor to use less packaging. Vendors are required to use compostable packaging, which you can return to them for recycling/compost after you enjoy your delicious treats.
3) Don’t bring any outside waste to the market – that includes coffee cups! We no longer have waste stations at our markets so we’re leaving our shoppers with no options to create waste. Unfortunately we’ve see coffee cups left in some farmers stalls and we need to haul it away at the end of the day. Waste hauling fees are expensive! Help support our non-profit by not bringing any waste to the market.
Winter Markets are coming!
We will have 2 great markets this winter season. Starting with Nat Bailey Winter Market on November 7, 10am-2pm at Nat Bailey Stadium, and then Hastings Park Winter Market on Sundays, starting November 8, 10am-2pm at the PNE.
