What’s Fresh at Main St Station – August 24

Earlier this week, farmer Brian Patterson from Shalefield Organic Gardens invited the Vancouver Farmers Market market crew to see his 10 acre organic farm, located just north of the USA boarder (and by “just north” we literally mean just across the street!) Brian proudly showed us his fields of berries, greens, cucumbers & tomatoes and explained that most of his produce at Main St Station is picked the day before or on the same day of the market! Can’t find anything that fresh at a grocery store! Check out our Facebook album for our farm tour photos.

Produce

apples, apricots, basil, bell peppers, blueberries, blackberries, broccoli, bok choy, carrots, celery, chard, cherries, cauliflower, cucumbers, corn, eggplant, fennel, fresh herbs, garlic, green onions, grapes, heirloom tomatoes, leeks, nectarines, new potatoes, melons, mushrooms, patty pan squash, peaches, plums, radishes, raspberries, salad mix, strawberries, sunflowers, snap peas, sugar peas, tomatoes, turnips, zucchini, zucchini flowers

Top Picks

Watermelon from Cropthorne Organic Farm – melon season is upon us!

Pickling Cucumbers from Forstbauer Family Farm – hurry down to Main St Station for some pickling cukes! Their season is nearing the end, so get them while they’re still at the market. Happy Pickling!
