Market News

This is it folks, it’s the last week of the Nat Bailey Winter Farmers Market before we kick off the summer season! We’ve got you covered next week though, because Hastings Park runs until April 29th. VFM would like to thank all the shopper, vendors and community partners for making this a wonderful Winter Market Season!

Like Shopping at Nat Bailey Winter Market? VFM is excited to announce the opening of our brand new summer market in the newly renovated Riley Park across the street! Opening June 24th, Riley Park Farmers Market will kick off it’s Grand Opening. We at VFM feel its going to be a lovely addition to Saturday’s in Vancouver.

Its Earth Day Saturday April 22. Let’s all try to do our part in the fight for a clean environment. Did you know, Earth Day has reached into its current status as the largest secular observance in the world, celebrated by more than a billion people every year, and a day of action that changes human behavior and provokes policy changes. VFM invites you to be a part of Earth Day and help write many more chapters.

ElectroRecycle will be onsite this weekend, they will be ready to accept over 300 small appliances while you shop the best in local flavours at Nat Bailey Winter Farmers Market. ChopSwap is a community campaign that helps turn local restaurants and their customers into zero-waste heroes, and they will have a station at the market this Saturday! Pay them a visit to swap your disposable chopsticks for a pair of reusable ones! All swapped + reclaimed chopsticks will be donated to local school arts programs, crafters and other creative initiatives (or sent to compost).

The David Suzuki Foundation and Eco justice are partners in the Blue Dot movement. They will be onsite this weekend at Nat Bailey. They are a national grassroots campaign to advance the legal protection of all Canadians’ right to live in a healthy environment. The Blue Dot movement is based on the simple but powerful idea that all Canadians have the right to clean air and water, safe food, a healthy climate, vibrant ecosystems and a say in decisions that affect their health and well-being. Check them out and show them some love!

Summer Markets

This is our last market day for the Nat Bailey market season! We’re ramping up for the summer market season and look forward to continue on developing a sustainable food system in Vancouver that helps feed people in our region, supports the local economy and protects our local environment and farms for decades to come!
