WE HEART FARMERS!

This week we’re celebrating our local food growers with Farmers Appreciation Week! Join us as we celebrate the importance local food and farmers make to our everyday lives. Take an extra moment to tell the farmers how much you appreciate what they do and how important farmers markets  are to you!

WHATS FRESH THIS WEEK:

MANAGERS PICK:

  Found a new favourite recipe thanks to a suggestion from David at Coast Mushroom! Mixed bag of mushrooms+rice=delicious,brag worthy dinner.

Kinoko Gohan

Ingredients:

• 1 cup mixed mushrooms
• 2 cups rice (180 ml per cup)
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 2 Tbsp soya sauce
• 2 Tbsp rice vinegar
• water
• 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions:

1. Separate mushrooms into pieces. Slice thinly.
2. Wash rice and put in the rice cooker’s removable bowl. Add salt, soy sauce, rice vinegar and stir. Add enough water to reach the line for 2 cups of rice, and then add mushrooms. Cook like white rice (according to the rice cooker instructions).
3. After the rice is done, mix in green onions.
4. Enjoy! And don’t tell anyone how easy it was to make:)
