The West End Farmers Market – September 19

squashIs the cooler weather making you think Fall? Why not make some soup to warm you up! The market has everything you need – squash of all sizes, onions, garlic, leeks, carrots, potato and much more. What’s your favourite?

Donation Station – Dr. Peter Centre

This week we will be collecting donations for the Dr. Peter Centre food and nutrition program. This program allows Vancouver’s most vulnerable citizens to receive healthy, wholesome meals to help with taking HIV medication and other treatments so they can better manage the illness and lead healthy lives.

The program provides a complete and nutrient-dense menu that includes balanced portions of meat or alternatives, vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and dairy products.  Please consider filling a brown bag with fresh fruit, vegetables, canned fish, nuts and eggs! Cash and market money are also accepted. We hope you can find a little extra this week to give back to the community. You can find the Donation Station setup across from the information tent.

Take our Survey

Did you get a chance to participate in our market surveys last week? Look for our survey tent this week to get your say! This is a great chance for us to learn about you and for you to tell us what you’d like to see at the market! Plus, who doesn’t like playing with fun stickers?

Food Scraps Drop Spot

Still don’t have a green bin collection program in your building? Bring your food scraps to the market and we’ll compost them for you.

Starting this week the Food Scraps Drop Spot will move from the West side of the market to the centre, across from the information tent. If you are a weekly dropper, please be sure you donate at least $2 for your drop. If you have a collection at home but want to help provide a place for those who don’t, consider donating to keep the program going or sign up to volunteer!
